Kishora Ranga Payana
Vision
To create a dedicated platform for children and young people to experience theatre, both as performers and as audiences, and to make children's theatre a regular part of Mangaluru's cultural life.
Mission
Kishora Ranga Payana aims to bring children's theatre to a wider audience through regular performances and theatre festivals, giving young performers an opportunity to present their work on a proper stage and interact with the wider theatre community.
The festival also creates a space for children, parents, artists, educators and theatre audiences to come together through theatre.
Why Kishora Ranga Payana?
Children's theatre is often limited to school programmes, competitions or occasional workshops. Kishora Ranga Payana creates a space beyond these settings, where children's theatre can be presented as a serious artistic activity and enjoyed by a wider public.
For the children performing, it is an opportunity to experience the responsibility and excitement of performing before an audience. For the audience, it is an opportunity to see children's theatre as a meaningful form of theatre rather than simply a children's activity.
What the Festival Focuses On
Kishora Ranga Payana focuses on:
- Presenting quality children's theatre
- Giving young performers opportunities to perform before a public audience
- Creating regular exposure to theatre for children and families
- Bringing artists, educators and theatre audiences together
- Encouraging a stronger children's theatre culture in Mangaluru
- Giving children's productions a platform beyond school programmes and competitions
Purpose
The larger purpose of Kishora Ranga Payana is to create a continuing space where children can perform, audiences can watch, and children's theatre can grow in Mangaluru.
