Kishora Ranga Payana 2025

Kishora Ranga Payana 2025 was a children’s theatre festival presented by Kalabhi (R.), held at Sahodaya Hall, St. Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru, on 7 July 2025.

The festival presented Mowgli, a production of Kalabhi Children’s Theatre, with Bhuvan Manipal handling the stage adaptation and direction. Based on Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book, the production used the world of Mowgli and the situations within the jungle to explore issues relevant to the present time.

The programme brought together children, artists, educators, cultural practitioners and members of the public. Several guests from the fields of art, education, business and social work attended the programme and extended their wishes to the team.

Chandrashekar Shetty, Director of Sanatana Natyalaya, spoke about Kalabhi’s work in bringing together young people interested in art and engaging them in learning and artistic practice. He appreciated the efforts of the team and congratulated Bhuvan Manipal and Ujwal U.V., founder of Kalabhi.

The performance received a strong response from the audience, with a good number of art enthusiasts attending the programme and appreciating the young performers. The evening provided the children with an opportunity to present their work before a wider public audience and experience theatre beyond the usual school setting.

The programme was anchored by Akshatha Shenoy, Principal of Amrita Vidyalayam. The event was conducted with the support of Kalabhi’s patrons under the leadership of Mahesh Kamath. Ujwal U.V., Secretary of Kalabhi, delivered the vote of thanks, while Suresh Verkady, Honorary President of Kalabhi, was also present.

Kishora Ranga Payana 2025 created a dedicated space for children's theatre to meet a wider audience, bringing together young performers and the Mangaluru cultural community through a live theatrical experience.
