World Within You – An Acting Workshop on Imagination
World Within You was a seven-day intensive acting workshop organised by Kalabhi Theatre in collaboration with Chowki Mane Trust at Kalagrama, Mangaluru.
Conducted from 21 July to 26 July 2025 every evening from 6.00 PM to 9.00 PM, the workshop marked the very first training program to be hosted at Kalagrama, opening the space to an intensive process of theatre training and creative exploration.
The workshop was facilitated by Manju Kasaragod, a renowned theatre artist and actor associated with the National School of Drama, New Delhi, and with Ninasam. With a strong background in theatre, the facilitator guided nearly 12 active participants through a process centred on one of the most essential elements of an actor's practice imagination.
Through theatre-based exercises, creative experiments, improvisations and collaborative activities, participants were encouraged to move beyond familiar patterns of thinking. Rather than focusing merely on performance techniques, the sessions centred on expanding the inner world, enabling participants to observe, respond, and approach performance with greater freedom.
For Kalagrama, World Within You established an important foundation, proving the space’s potential to serve not only as a venue for cultural gatherings, but as a hub for sustained learning, experimentation, and artistic growth.
