Dilema

Musical Artistic Album – 2021
Dilema was a musical visual project featuring singer Ranjitha Yellur, developed around the idea of bringing together two songs belonging to different cultures, languages, parts of the world and musical genres.

Instead of treating these differences as a limitation, the project explored how contrasting musical worlds could be brought together into a single artistic expression.

The project was built not only around the music but also around its visual presentation. Ujwal U.V. provided the visual direction, while the team worked across multiple locations to create a visual language that reflected the emotions of the scenes and supported the transitions within the piece.

The filming was carried out over 20 and 21 March 2021. The two-day process used four different locations Mangalore Horse Academy, Ullal Railway Station and Someshwar Beach on the first day, followed by Maroli Surya Narayana Temple and Malemar near the Kalabhi office on the second day. The project used different character presentations across the two days, including a cowboy and a traditional girl.

The production brought together a team working across performance, cinematography, camera, makeup, costume and production support. Ranjitha Yellur was the artist, Sujith S.C. worked as cinematographer, with Shishir and Akshay handling camera work, and Trisha Shetty working on makeup and costumes. Ananya, Karthik Kamath, Ashray, Rakshita Yellur, Tejas, Sukesh and Athik were also part of the team, with Ujwal U.V. providing the overall direction.

The project was supported by several individuals and organisations who helped with locations, permissions, equipment and logistics, including Mangalore Horse Academy, Ramachandra Bhat and family, Sureka Raj, Shreyas and Ideal Arrangers.

Dilema became an experiment in bringing together contrasting musical influences and extending that contrast into visual storytelling. Through its combination of music, performance, location and visual direction, the project explored how different artistic elements could meet within a single work.
