Bangalore Poetry festival 2026
The journey of Kalabhi Theatre Express reached another important milestone with its presentation at the 10th edition of the Bengaluru Poetry Festival 2026, held on 1st and 2nd August 2026 at Indiranagar Sangeetha Sabha, Bengaluru. The festival, which has grown over the years into an important platform for poetry, storytelling, literature and performance, brought together artists and audiences from across the country to celebrate diverse languages and forms of artistic expression.
As part of the festival's specially curated Children's Fest, Kalabhi Theatre Express was featured under the Theatre category. The presentation was officially scheduled from 4.30 PM to 5.00 PM, inviting young audiences to embark on a “dramatic journey” with Kalabhi Theatre Express.
For Kalabhi Theatre Express, being part of the Bengaluru Poetry Festival held a special significance. The initiative itself is deeply rooted in the tradition of storytelling, where folk narratives, performance, music, humour and physical expression come together to create a direct and engaging theatrical experience. Its presentation within a festival dedicated to poetry, language and storytelling therefore created a meaningful space for the team to share its theatrical language with a new audience.
Through its travelling repertory format, Kalabhi Theatre Express has always worked with the belief that theatre should not remain confined to a conventional auditorium. Instead, it travels with stories, performers and imagination, adapting itself to different spaces and audiences. The Bengaluru Poetry Festival became another important destination in this continuing journey.
The opportunity to present at the 10th Bengaluru Poetry Festival also placed Kalabhi Theatre Express alongside a wider gathering of poets, storytellers, writers, musicians and performers representing different languages and artistic traditions. The festival's Children's Fest provided a particularly relevant space for Theatre Express, whose performances seek to engage young audiences through lively storytelling and direct interaction.
This presentation marked another significant chapter in the journey of Kalabhi Theatre Express, taking the repertory from Mangaluru to Bengaluru and introducing its work to a wider cultural audience. True to its guiding spirit, “Bringing the Stage to Your Station,” Kalabhi Theatre Express continued its journey of carrying live theatre, stories and imagination beyond conventional stages and directly towards people.
